Synopsis
Jack Ryan on Prime Video is a television series based on the fictional character Jack Ryan created by author Tom Clancy. The show follows the early career of the titular character, a former U.S. Marine and CIA analyst who finds himself in the middle of dangerous and complex international crises.
The first season of the show sees Jack Ryan (played by John Krasinski) as a financial analyst in the CIA who uncovers a suspicious series of bank transfers. His investigation leads him to a potential terrorist attack being planned by a high-profile Islamic extremist, Suleiman. Jack is pulled into a larger conspiracy that takes him across the globe as he tries to prevent the attack and stop Suleiman and his network of operatives.
The second season sees Jack Ryan in South America, where he is investigating illegal arms trafficking and corruption within the Venezuelan government. His investigation leads him to a powerful and charismatic politician, President Reyes, who is using his position to enrich himself and his inner circle. Jack and his team must work against time to expose Reyes’ criminal activity and prevent him from using his power to destabilize the region.
Throughout both seasons, Jack Ryan is joined by his mentor, CIA station chief James Greer (played by Wendell Pierce), as well as other members of the intelligence community. The show combines elements of political thriller, action, and drama, as Jack Ryan navigates the dangers and complexities of the modern world of intelligence gathering and counterterrorism.

Why Jack Ryan is Good
Like the novels, the storytelling is compelling. The acting is good and there’s enough intrigue to keep my interest. It’s a solid show, nothing worth cancelling Friday night plans for, but definitely good enough for some weeknight tv watching.
